What’s Your Spiritual Potential?

What has God called you to do in life?

Have you reached your spiritual potential yet?

How do we know who we’re supposed to become and who God wants us to be?

These are some of the most common (and most difficult) questions that every Christian must face, and it’s a dilemma that continually reappears, time and time again.

Generally speaking, it’s often easier to see God’s will for someone else’s life than in our own.  When we look at others, we can clearly see their gifts shining through.  When we look at ourselves, it is hard to see past our own faults.

We may often feel God pulling us in a certain direction,  but our fears and lack of faith stand in the way of taking action.  Our lack of self-confidence prohibits us from moving forward.

Achieving greatness, however, is less about what we can do, and more about what we allow God to do through us.

St. Ignatius of Loyola once said,

“Few souls understand what God would accomplish in them if they were to abandon themselves unreservedly to Him and if they were to allow His grace to mold them accordingly.”

Finding God’s will for our lives, then, requires one thing: taking ourselves out of the equation.  Easier said than done – I know.

God is calling you to do some awesome things and to stretch your spiritual potential.  Every day, He calls people to:

  • Join the choir
  • Help at the food pantry
  • Start a blog
  • Train to be a lector
  • Become a catechist
  • Write a book

…and so much more!

What is God calling you to do?  More importantly, what will you allow God to do through you?
