…Silence

And all the multitude held their peace; and they heard Barnabas and Paul telling what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. Acts 15:12

Take your cell phone and turn it off for an hour. Better still, for a day…silence

Take all your ‘smart’ gadgets and put them away. Far away. For a day…silence

Turn off your television. Place the remote in the basement somewhere. Keep it there for a day…silence

Turn off all your audio equipment. Unplug it if you have to. Keep it unplugged for the day…silence

Open your drapes and let the light in. Sit quietly for a while, for no reason but quietness itself…silence

Take a walk outside. Walk slow. Take in all your surroundings….speak to no one…silence

Look up at the sky. Look at the clouds and be a child again…silence

Take your rosary with you on your walk. Meditate on the mysteries…silence

Sit on a park bench. Expect nothing and see everything…silence

Smile…silence

Shed a tear…silence

Sigh…silence

It is in that silence that the Lord speaks to you the loudest.
