Think Like God

Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. (Job 37:14, KJV)

Have you ever tried to count all the stars in the sky? You may even get to a couple thousand and someone interrupts you and you have to start over again. What is even more frustrating is at a couple thousand you aren’t even close to getting all the stars, besides the fact there are stars being born and dying all the time. All in all this is a very daunting task and something mere humans cannot ever come close to achieving.

This is similar to trying to comprehend God, to measure His knowledge, His mercy, and His love. God is so vast, He spans the earth, the sky and beyond.

If God knows all, when does He have time to consider me or listen to what I need? Isn’t His calendar full and His cell phone always busy? How can He hear me with all the other disasters in the world? Besides, He is perfect and I am so far from perfect that He won’t want to waste His time on me.

This is exactly the reason He gives us all of His attention though. He wants to make us perfect. He takes the time, His cell phone is always answered, and His calendar has lots of room for us, His beloved children.

He created everything. He can stop the storm and make the sun shine or hide. If it weren’t for Him, we would not know when to put on our bathing suits or our winter coats. The flowers would not bloom and the grass would not grow. God takes care of everything so we can release our worries to worship and praise Him.

All that God has done has been done for His people. All that He does, He does for His people. We need not question, but instead stop, accept, and worship. He has put all things in place to make His people perfect and holy, like His Son our Savior.

We don’t know the plans He has for us, but we know He only wants what is best for us and He lays His plans to achieve that end. When we do things contrary to His plans and think in ways that are not of Him, we interfere with that end.

But who are we to interfere with His perfect plan? This interference is the work of Satan and we must find a way to rise above the disturbing plots of Satan and embrace the heavenly thinking of God.

When we think as God’s children, we let Him take care of us, we follow the path He has laid before us, and we accept His ways as our ways. Then like the birds in the air and the flowers in the field all of our needs will be met and we can celebrate God and the earthly world we are in now and the heavenly reward we will one day receive when our journey on this earth is done. Heavenly thinking is the way to go. Stand still, be silent and join God in His celebration of you and all of His children.
